In light of the decision to begin sharing bits of my personal work when it relates to music as a whole, here is another bit from my reel. I opted to shoot the first 16mm music video in my undergrad film department in lieu of my senior vocal recital. I have never regretted it.
Song written and performed by Thomas Villarreal

“Dance Class” written and performed by Asche and Spencer for the film “Stay.”
Wow. Very nicely done, both. The first one is esp atmospherically dark, in a memorable & striking way.
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it. The content of the song was fairly dark, so we aimed to keep it that way.
Yes. It would’ve felt a little weird had the principle colors been, say, yellow, or any dominant pastels. I’m always impressed with good music videos, inasmuch as they are not just hemmed in my time (the length of the song) or by the song’s content, but also by rhythm itself. An interesting exercise. I wish I knew the first thing about video production.
Definitely, I agree. One of my long-lost loves on the more narrow path to a future in academia, I’m afraid. Although I’ve had an idea to start (very cheaply) filming a couple of my own songs…we’ll see how it pans out.
